FOREST GROVE Three goals in four matches for Pacific University's Danny Williams (Sr., Eugene, Ore.) has earned the midfielder the Northwest Conferencešs Menšs Soccer Offensive Student-Athlete of the Week award. The honor, voted upon by the conferencešs sports information directors, was announced on Monday night.

Williams was the offensive catalyst in a 3-1-0 week for the Boxers, which included victories over La Verne, the College of Idaho and Mary (N.D.). He contributed three goals and added an assist, including the penalty kick game-winner against Mary on Sunday.

"Danny has had a good start to the season and he needs to continue scoring goals as conference play begins," said Pacific Head Coach Jim Brazeau. "It's a long season and we need him to keep working hard."

Williams opened the week by scoring an insurance goal in last Monday's 2-0 shutout of La Verne. He scored the game-tying goal against College of Idaho on Friday and then assisted on Travis Birrellšs (So., Seattle, Wash.) game-winner in double overtime, giving Pacific a 2-1 victory. Williams added his first game-winning goal of the season Sunday, burying a penalty kick in the first half for a 1-0 victory over Mary.

To date, Williams has scored five goals in the Boxers' first six matches and he leads the NWC in points with 12 and shots with 18, and is tied for first in goals scored.

Additionally, Williams continues to move up the Boxers' career offensive lists. His 62 career points, 118 shots and nine game-winning goals rank third on Pacificšs all-time lists. He five goals moves him to 28 for his career, one behind Rusty Sandusky for second all-time.

Williams and the Boxers will open the Northwest Conference season this Saturday, hosting Pacific Lutheran at Lincoln Park Stadium. Game time is 2:30 p.m.
