CASCADE SLIPS BY KNIGHTS IN OT THRILLER

09/15/2007 10:50 PM - article care of Cody Harrod - Cascade College

Portland, OR - After spotting Warner Pacific a corner kick goal, Cascade stormed back with 2 scores of their own to get by the Knights, 2-1 in an exciting overtime match at Williams & Smith Field. T-Bird Sandy Hanania scored her first goal of the season in dramatic fashion, taking an Elissa Coutin chip and finishing left of the Knight keeper 2 minutes into the second overtime.

WPC's Kristin Ruff bent home a corner kick in the 63rd minute, catching the T-Bird defense flat footed and giving the visitors the late advantage. Cascade's Felicia Fernandez drew the team even with a 18 yard strike after Knight net minder Ali Foster found herself out of position while punching a crossed ball clear.

Following an uneventful 1st overtime, Hanania wasted no time in the 2nd OT, calmly collecting the Coutin pass and firing left and low to provide the game winner.

Cascade improves to 3-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in conference play. Warner Pacific drops to 2-5-0 and 0-2-0.
