EUGENE, Ore -- After trailing by as many as three goals in the first half, the San Diego State Aztecs rallied past the Oregon Ducks, 12-10, on Friday afternoon in Eugene.

The Aztecs improved to 6-2 overall and 2-0 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play while the Ducks fell to 4-3 overall and 0-1 in the MPSF.

Junior Sami Kiser led the Oregon charge with three goals, including one that put her team up by three (5-2) with 5:53 remaining in the first half.  But San Diego State responded with two goals before the halfcourtesy of Meris Walsh and Michaela Jarvis to cut the deficit to one heading into the break.

In the second, the Aztecs scored the first three goals of the half to grab a 7-5 advantage with 26:41 to play.  Haley Milner and Kiser scored two-straight goals for the Ducks to knot the score at seven, however, with 20:36 to go.

The game remained close over the next several minutes and with the game tied at nine, freshmanCourtney Valdez scored her first collegiate goal to give the Ducks a 10-9 lead at the 13:29 mark.

But Oregon would not score again.

San Diego State tied the game with a Sophie Koubek goal at the 9:18 mark and took the lead for good when Walsh scored her fourth and final goal of the day with 8:10 remaining.

Koubek tacked on an empty-net goal with 48 seconds to go to put the game out of reach.

Kiser's three goals led Oregon offensively.  Milner and Nikki Puszcz finished with two, while Valdez, Kate Cathell and Carly O'Connell each scored one.  Junior Shannon Propst had a team-high three assists and three draw controls. O'Connell recorded three draw controls, junior Erika McCool forced three turnovers and senior goalie Salliebeth Finnegan scooped up a team-high three ground balls.

Finnegan also posted nine saves in 49:27 minutes of action.  Caroline Federighi made one save in 10:33 in her first game since March 4 against Vermont.

Oregon outshot the Aztecs, 25-23, but fell in the draw control category, 13-11, and lost nine of the 14 draw controls in the second half.  San Diego State scooped up 16 ground balls to Oregon's 15 but committed four more turnovers than the Ducks (15-11).

Oregon wraps up its seven-game homestand to start the year with a 4-3 record.  The Ducks will hit the road for three matches, starting on Sunday in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. against Marist.  Game time is scheduled for 11 a.m. (PT).
