Batum-Chakalaka
A while back I was posed a question that gave me pause. I hesitated a moment before giving my answer. My answer was “Nicolas Batum.” The question: If I was the Blazers general manager and I could only keep either Batum or Gerald Wallace, who would I choose to keep? I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t this the guy who just a couple of weeks ago wrote an apology to Gerald Wallace for doubting him? Yes, I am that guy, and no, my feelings about Mr. Wallace have not changed. I still feel that Gerald is an absolutely fantastic player whose value to the Trail Blazers cannot be
Time to Trade Nicolas Batum
I agree with the Blazers not signing Nicolas Batum to a deal before the deadline. He has yet to bring his European scoring touch to the NBA. I’m not saying he is Sergio Rodriguez because Batum is a top notch NBA defender, but his offence is very John Starks-like. He can go 10 for 10 one night and then go 2 for 15 the next 4 nights. If Batum was more consistent with his offense in the NBA, I don’t think we would be talking about his contract right now. Batum simply has not played himself into a big payday with the Blazers. People had high hopes for Batum this season as word got
Raymond Felton: Wrongfully Accused?
Much has been made about the lack of consistency of Portland Trail Blazers point guard Raymond Felton. If we are going to be objective, the fact is that the great media hype machine took Felton’s legs out from under him before he even stepped off of the plane from Denver. He was supposed to be a starting caliber, if not elite point guard. He was supposed to push this team to new levels of competition, and be at least partially responsible for making fans forget about Brandon Roy. He was supposed to be “IT”, the piece missing from the Blazer’s and their championship
Winterhawks Sign Champlain
The Portland Winterhawks have signed center Adam De Champlain, the team’s 10th round pick in the 2009 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft. De Champlain, 17, is playing this season for the Camrose Kodiaks of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, where he has eight goals and six assists for 14 points in 38 games. Last season in 34 games with the Sherwood Park J. Ennis Kings of the Alberta Midget Hockey League, De Champlain had nine goals and 14 assists for 23 points. “Adam is a solid two-way forward who will add depth and experience to our group next year. Psst...Guess What I Heard
The Chip Kelly circus that rolled through town late last Sunday afternoon triggered a poop storm of activity surrounding if, what and how much of what was being reported was true. It sent shockwaves through Facebook, helped shut down Twitter, and pushed Pac-12 message boards through walls thought previously to be impenetrable. Everyone with an ounce of interest in college football and more notably, the west coast’s version of it, wanted to know not only IF it were true, but also WHY Charles “Chip” Kelly was leaving a program he’d put amongst the elite of the
Curry Leads Warriors Past Blazers
OAKLAND, Calif. -- Mark Jackson looked up at the scoreboard during a timeout late in the fourth quarter and couldn't have been happier to find his team in another close game. The final result had the rookie coach smiling even more. Stephen Curry scored a season-high 32 points and added seven assists and six rebounds, and the Warriors extended their recent home dominance against Portland with a 101-93 victory Wednesday night to redeem a recent string of fourth-quarter collapses and last-second blunders. "I think it's just what the doctor ordered," said Jackson,
